Homeless Shelter Art Program
In association with the Night of Artists, the Livia Stoyke Foundation asked 27 Edmonton artists to create and donate paintings to the Women’s Emergency Accommodation Centre (WEAC). After showing the paintings at the Works Gallery for four days in December 2002, the paintings were donated to WEAC. The paintings have substantially brightened the atmosphere of centre and are now providing the women who stay there a sense of comfort and security.
"The
paintings make the shelter a happier place for the women who stay here.”
Manager of WEAC, Tanya Tellier
